Christine M. Schneider grew up in Colorado and graduated with a BFA in Visual Communications with an emphasis in Illustration from the University of Kansas. Today, Christy owns Yellow Pencil Studio, an illustration and design studio in Lawrence, Kansas. Some of her picture books for children include Picky Mrs. Pickle, Saxophone Sam and His Snazzy Jazz Band, Under Construction, and — most recently — Sullen Sally.

Along with drawing books for kids, Christy illustrates and designs for a variety of clients. She operates Inkello Letterpress as well, combining her love for illustration and design with the artisan craft of letterpress printing. She also art directs FPM — a business journal for doctors published by the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Christy enjoys solving visual problems of all kinds — whether it’s an illustration commission, a branding and website project, a tactile paper-and-ink assignment, or something completely different. Her strengths include thinking through a problem from all angles, interpreting a client’s exact wants and needs, and matching those with a tailored, strategic solution.

She lives in Lawrence, a smallish college town in the northeast corner of Kansas, with her husband, daughter and cat.
